Everyone wants a beautiful white smile. Maybe you’ve even looked into getting your teeth whitened at your dentist’s office. There are cheap teeth-whitening treatments available at the pharmacy, but if you really want the job done right, you need to have your dentist do it for you. We’ll make sure your teeth and gums are healthy, and it’s safe to carry out the procedure. Then we’ll explain the treatment options and help you pick the one that’s right for you.
Whitening for Life in the Office
If you’re already taking care of your teeth, you should be coming in to see us every six months. When you’re in for your next visit, ask about the Whitening for Life Program. This program sets you up with a set of custom bleaching trays and gel. After your regular cleaning, our Clinical Director and hygienist Jaclyn Cooper will explain how to put the gel into the trays and what you need to do to whiten your teeth.
The advantage of custom trays over the generic trays you can buy in the store is that we can assess the condition of your teeth and gums and check for any irritation the gel might be causing. We’re allowed to use higher concentrations of peroxide and other whiteners, so your teeth will get whiter faster, and we will address any sensitivity right away.
After your first visit, Jaclyn will check on you at every return visit, and you’ll get a supply of touch-up whitening gel at no extra cost. We want to be sure your teeth stay bright and white. All you need to do is keep up with your regular preventive care treatments.
ZOOM! in for a Quick Whitening
If you don’t like the idea of wearing trays full of gel every night and want to have white teeth in a hurry, we recommend Zoom! This is an in-office treatment that can remove multiple layers of stains in a single treatment. Zoom! is a light treatment, similar to a laser treatment, which uses LED lights and a whitening agent to remove stains from beneath the top layer of your enamel.
A Zoom! treatment lasts about an hour. You’ll see results right away, although badly stained teeth may need several treatments to remove all the stains. Best of all, Zoom! treatments are painless and cause no damage to your teeth. You may feel some minor sensitivity after the treatment.
Following your Zoom! treatment or treatments, you’ll be enrolled in the Whitening for Life program so that you can keep your teeth pearly white afterward. A regular course of whitening gel will keep any stains from re-forming on your teeth.
Other Alternatives
At Babylon Dental Care, we do not use laser whitening treatments because Zoom! is essentially the same type of treatment, only faster and less costly. Laser whitening is available at other facilities. We do not recommend over-the-counter whitening treatments simply because they do not produce the results that our products provide.
