What is your position? What location are you currently working from?
I am an orthodontist assistant working from the Great South Bay location.
How would you describe our office environment and your team relationships?
Our office is amazing! Everyone is so helpful, and we all truly work as a team to allow for the day to run smoothly.
What are things you are currently doing in service that bring you joy?
Being able to help an anxious patient gain the confidence to get the treatment they need brings me joy. We have seen many patients who came to us extremely nervous to get treated and we were able to calm them and encourage them to go forward with their treatment plan. Being able to comfort someone and reassure them that they are doing the right thing makes me happy.
What are things you would want to add to enhance your individual service or that of our collective team service?
I would really love to better my communication with all patients. I want everyone to feel open and comfortable when we are talking.
Is there a patient experience that has moved you as a wholehearted professional that you would like to share?
We had a patient come in to see us a few weeks ago who nervous to get her braces. She genuinely needs them, but she was crying and fidgeting because of how anxious she was. She had come in a few years ago for braces but never came back due to just how scared she was. This time I was able to calm her down and reassure her that it was the best thing for her to do. She allowed me to complete her records and schedule her an appointment to start her treatment. When she eventually did come in, she was still anxious, but she made it through the whole treatment. She left here proud of her accomplishment in getting over her fear, and I was proud of her as well.
Anything amazing in working with your BDC family that you appreciate and let us know if you have found your true professional home with us?
I truly appreciate the work environment at BDC. Everyone supports and helps one another like a true team. I would love to continue growing with the practice and its employees. It’s sad to say, but this type of work environment is new to me, but it is truly refreshing and enjoyable.
Any service or professional goals for the rest of your first year here with BDC?
I just want to learn to work better with the team and continue providing an overall great experience for our patients.
Outside of BDC, what are things in your personal life that fill you tank or bring you joy?
I love to hang out and do activities with my dog. I also love helping people in any way I can. When I am not at BDC, I am working in a homeless shelter for women, men and families.
