Making a checklist to bring to your next dental appointment will help ensure that you make the most of your time with the dentist. Taking the time to put together a list of questions will encourage you to pay attention to details about your oral health that you may otherwise miss, such as tooth sensitivity. It can also help you address any issues before they become serious.

Before you even get to the dentist’s office, you likely have a mental list of items to take care of in advance. One of the first items to address is confirming your appointment. Many offices these days will send you a text or email confirming your appointment. However, if you do not receive one, it’s best to call the office and double-check that they know you are coming in for a visit. This keeps everyone on the same page and ensures that your time and your dentist’s time will be respected.

Next, you’ll want to make a list of any questions or concerns you have about your oral health. If you are not sure where to begin with this, here are a few questions to ask yourself:

  • Do my gums bleed when I brush my teeth?
  • Do I ever feel any pain or discomfort in and around my mouth?
  • Does my partner say they hear me grinding my teeth at night?
  • Do I have difficulty sticking to my dental routine?
